Privacy Notice

This notice describes what Minnesota Released Inmates may collect, why information is used, and when it may pass to another service. By using the site, a visitor accepts these practices. Government records reached through links are maintained under each agency's rules, including the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, and are not stored here.

Information You Submit

Search Terms

A name, place, or other detail entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider operating that tool. Minnesota Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's policy governs its handling of the query.

Messages

If a visitor sends an email or contact message, the submitted details may be retained long enough to read and answer it. Messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Automatic Technical Data

Normal web operations may record limited technical and usage details when a page loads.

  • Internet Protocol address
  • Browser name and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages viewed and time spent
  • The referring site, when supplied
  • Date and time stamps

Cookies

Cookies may help measure how visitors use the site and support site features. A browser can refuse or remove cookies, though parts of the site may then work differently.

How Data Is Used

Collected data may be used to operate and improve the service.

  • Keep pages available and responsive
  • Send a search request to the selected partner
  • Understand which resources visitors use
  • Find faults and address security issues
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

Websites Beyond Our Control

Links lead to sheriff pages, jail rosters, MNDOC resources, Minnesota court portals, county subdomains, federal locators, and outside search tools. Once a visitor leaves, the destination's privacy policy applies. Minnesota public records are classified and maintained by the responsible government entity under Minnesota Statutes section 13.03, Chapter 13, and other applicable law, not by this site.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking does not occur in a Minnesota Released Inmates government-record database because this site maintains no such database.

Who May Receive Data

Personal data is not sold by Minnesota Released Inmates. Limited information may be handled by the following parties when needed.

  • Search partners that process submitted queries
  • Analytics providers that measure site use
  • Advertising networks serving site ads
  • Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order

Security Measures

Reasonable, commonly used safeguards are applied to information under the site's control. No internet-connected service can promise perfect security, and this notice does not guarantee that a breach or unauthorized access can never occur.

Visitors Under Eighteen

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted data may request its deletion through the contact route.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and the data actually held, a visitor may make these requests.

  • Ask for a copy of personal data held by the site
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Seek deletion of eligible information
  • Opt out of certain processing where that choice applies

Changes to This Notice

This privacy notice may be revised as site practices or legal duties change. A new version takes effect when posted here with its updated effective date.
