Why This Site Exists

Minnesota classifies key release and transfer facts as public government data, but those facts are held across many agencies. A sheriff documents the exit from a county jail, including the date, time, and legal basis for release or transfer. MNDOC runs the Public Viewer for adults committed to the Commissioner who are incarcerated or remain under supervision. The federal Bureau of Prisons and ICE maintain separate locators for their custody systems. This statewide site helps readers identify the right layer, reach the correct county resource, and understand what an official status does and does not prove.
